THOSE AREN'T YOUR PLAY CLOTHES

I'm not especially enamored with bands so intent with driving their schtick home that the take the whole retro thing to an entirely different level.  The Kaisers were one band that always kind of irked me. The whole obsession with sounding like the Beatles, dressing the pre-mop top part, black and white photos on the album covers, recording in mono,...I mean, jeez guys give it a rest!  Well, they did give it a rest, back in 2002, and now in hindsight, I can relax a bit, and stop being a nazi about them being nazis.  They were good, they had it down, and they put out some good records.  Who knows, if they would have followed their imaginary trajectory, they might've been sitting around cross-legged, doing acid and recording shit backward by now.
