What does she sound like? Listen to her cover of "Sock It to Me Baby". Seriously, I think she wants to rip Mitch Ryder's balls off. That should be considered praise. Off color as it might be, that's what I'd say if you were sitting here. So, I'll stick with what I know.
Lotti Golden's 1969 album Motor-Cycle, from all appearances, was something of a big deal. Something counter culture East Village something or other. I would suggest reading the thing at Wikipedia. And check out the other two songs, They're both like several songs strung together. I believe that's called a suite. You classical nuts would probably know.

Thanks for posting this excellent review of Lotti Golden's "Sock It To Me Baby/It's Your Thing." This may be the only song she recorded that she didn't write." Yes, her LP "Motor-Cycle" was a big deal. Original, iconic and stands the test off time. And yes, she rips the balls off Mr. Ryder!
Great pick! Lotti Golden remains elusive till this day. There were rumblings that "Motor-Cycle" would be reissued on CD, and vinyl on High Moon Records. Golden rips it up on this one-"Sock It To Me Baby," (like no one else) except maybe Amy Winehouse.
It's amazing how you've included both Lotti Golden and the "not of this world" incredible Sun Ra in the same piece! What's interesting, is that Golden, later pioneered early hip hop/electro music., some of which is informed by Sun Ra. See the Wikipedia article the electro band, "Warp 9." Love this post!

You are an entertaining writer. Your description of Lotti Golden's performance nailed it! Also, you are right about "Motor-Cycle" being a big deal. Atlantic did nothing with this great record--the first concept LP by a female artist.
