DELLS ALBUM [DETAIL]

Taken out of context, this detail of a Dells album cover is just crazy. Notice that whatever athletic or he-man pose they are in, they all manage to hold on to their mics. What do we got going there? Looks like a strongman, a trapeze guy, a guy hanging off the trapeze guy, a guy just kind of dangling there, with some sort of leg choke hold on another guy. What the fuck is going on here? (Check the entire LP cover here.). Dig it, even the choke hold victim is holding on to his mic,

The song below isn't from that LP, but I'd put them within a few years of each other. "Windy City Soul" is a good sturdy soul record, 1972, just before soul started getting a little cluttered. This is a keeper. Visit Don't Stay Up Too Late and read the blurb too.

In or out of context that's a crazy image, Tom. Hard to fathom who this is aimed at. Shit, they've even got Jesse Jackson prancing around on the tightrope in platforms, complete with balloon barbells and a lollipop mike.

Checked out the complete cover but it still didn't make any sense. Windy City Blues did though.

That cover actually looks like one of those "Hey my cousin did this, I think we should use it" type album covers. As much as I like good LP covers, I LOVE album covers that drape themselves in unmitigated WTF-ness.
