"UGLY" SOUNDS BAD, USE "KING."

King Stitt, was born Winston Sparkes, and known by many as "the Ugly One", a nickname he gave himself, acknowledging his unconventional facial features. He passed away in January at the age of 71. Along with Count Machuki and Lord Comic, he was one of reggaes first DJ/toasters, and when he passed away, the oldest living one. He began toasting in 1956, and was associated with Coxsonne Dodd's Downbeat sound system until 1968, when Dodd decided to concentrate on his record business. Stitt had an encyclopedic knowledge of music, and not just reggae, but R & B and jazz as well. Still performing just a few months before he passed away, his influence on later reggae DJs cannot be overstated.
