TO EGGERS EVERYWHERE

What the hell, here's a mixed bag of older Halloween bric-a-brac. They aren't that spooky sounding, but the song titles will look good on a playlist. Don't go rolling your eyes about the rather obvious lead off song, I know "I Put a Spell On You" is on just about every Halloween mix ever made, but there may be one or two people unfamiliar with it, so it's almost a duty. Hey, but check that Bettye LaVette song. Oh yeaahhh, it's cool. Fuck, is it ever. Her voice, the baritone sax, the guitar solo, and, yeah, that unrelenting tambourine. It's the best new-to-me Halloween song I've heard this year. (Boogaloo Time delivers again!)  The next one is an oddball, Up until tonight .It never occurred to me that there might be a Tex-Mex Halloween song, but, sure, why wouldn't there be? Dig on the lively "Se Caso Dracula" by Lalo Trevino y Sus Vampiros. The other three are instrumentals. The Tarantulas' cuts are cool, from 1960, right about when regular guitar instrumentals started drifting towards surf.
